With FileMaker Server 6 high-performance servers you
can serve databases worldwide to friends and associates that
have FileMaker Pro and a broadband Internet connection. Clients are
easily able to link worldwide offices via TCP/IP to a private
and secure database server without spending hundreds or thousands
of dollars. FileMaker 6 Server serves ONLY FileMaker Pro
5, 5.5, and 6 databases/users.

FileMaker Pro 6 Unlimited makes it easy and convenient to serve
FileMaker Pro databases on the web. Web users will be able to
access your files through their own web browsers. Our FileMaker
Pro 5, 5.5, and 6 customers can access their databases through
their own FileMaker Pro program via TCP/IP.

deciding to host a FileMaker database on the Internet, you must

Enables the database owner to quickly publish a database on
the Internet for visitors to access with a web browser. No web
site package is required in most configurations. Our FileMaker
Servers render layouts automatically. There are limitations
to how the data appears to the user and functionality of scripts. Refer to your FileMaker manual for more info.

Requires a web site package and a developer with knowledge of
incorporating CDML or XML tags within HTML pages. With Custom
Web Publishing a site developer can customize the look and flow
of each database driven page and actions performed by scripts
and CGIs.
A NOTE ABOUT FILEMAKER
SECURITY ON THE WEB
There are two methods that FileMaker made available to developers
for access privileges and other security issues. Our servers
are set up for the Web Security Database method. We do not use,
and cannot simultaneously use, the built-in FileMaker Security.
